As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.

ALP Astronomy Experts Speaker Series 2022

The Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) would like to invite everyone to its "Astronomy Experts Speaker Series 2022," which features a talk by renowned eclipse guru Fred "Mr. Eclipse" Espenak on May 29 (Sunday) at 10 a.m. Philippine Standard Time (10 p.m. EDT / 02:00 UTC). The event is free and open to the public, but you must register first to access the webinar.

In his lecture, entitled "Predicting and Chasing Solar Eclipses," Fred will share with us his experiences through photos and videos of chasing eclipses around the world for more than four decades. He will also present details about the next total eclipse though the U.S.A., which occurs on April 8, 2024.
