DARKENING OF THE SUN FESTIVAL TO OFFER RARE SOLAR ECLIPSE CELEBRATION
Full music lineup announced for four day event including Nahko, Twiddle, and more
Saint Clair, Missouri July 19, 2017 — The gathering will celebrate the total solar eclipse of 2017 on August 18-21 at the stunning Hawk Arrow Springs and will feature musical performances by Nahko, Twiddle, Dustin Thomas, Chase Makai f/ The Pain, Hope Medford, Gipsey Moon, Dixon's Violin, and many more. Weekend passes for this family friendly event start at $90, with single-day passes and upgrades also available.
A sanctioned Northern Cherokee Nation Heritage event, the organizers drew their inspiration from Native Americans’ sacred connection to eclipse occurrences. The land is in the line of totality for the eclipse and will offer attendees and amateur astronomers access to unobstructed views 360 degree views of the nighttime sky far away from the city lights.
At Darkening of the Sun you will find:
Live music taking place across two stages and live painting throughout the weekend
Bonfire sessions featuring acoustic music and storytelling
Tribal citizens participating and performing throughout the fest, as well as putting on exhibits and demonstrations
Workshops providing the opportunity to learn about permaculture and sustainable living
Yoga, meditation, and sound healing
Natural swimming and wading pools
After recently blessing the land at sunrise, Chief Grey Elk of the Northern Cherokee Nation said, “If you want to come out to a great setting to watch an eclipse, listen to some good bands, and good fellowship, this would be the place to show up.”
A portion of the proceeds from this inaugural event will be donated to Black Hills Unity, The Covering House, and the Northern Cherokee Nation.
