Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

In cooperation with the Florida State Park Service, the Escambia Amateur Astronomers will return to bi-weekly gazes under the dark skies of Big Lagoon State Park (right on the border with Alabama) this winter. These are free, and open to campers, club members, and the general public. Remember to check in the park gate before sunset for these Saturday evening gazes. We will feature smartphone and DSLR photography with the dark skies and our new club eVscope, as well as a variety of telescopes up to 12" dobs. Free star maps, constellation tours, viewing and photographing the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the winter deep sky treats. For more details, call Dr. Wayne Wooten at 850-291-9334 or check our schelude for revisions and updates on FaceBook under "Escambia Amateur Astronomers" Group. For the best possible family experience, reserve a campsite for boating, hiking, birding, and of course, star gazing under southern skies.
