Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.
And if you’d like free copies of Sky & Telescope‘s Let’s Go Stargazing flyer or door prizes for your next star party, you can fill out this form.

Deep Sky Gazes at Big Lagoon State Park
April 15 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm CDT
$6
On the Saturdays of the third quarter moon, the Escambia Amateur Astronomers and the Florida State Parks sponsor free public star gazes for the campers at Big Lagoon State Park. The public is also invited, but the $6 per car fee still applies for Park entry. You need to check into the park gates by sunset to enter. Come to the end of the road at the boat ramp parking lot, and we set up our telescopes on the north end. We distribute free current sky maps and calendars, conduct constellation tours, offer both telescopic views of the planets and nebulae and galaxies, and also hands on imaging of deep sky objects with your smartphones and our Nocture, Unistellar, and DwarfLabs programs and instruments. Be sure to bring your own smartphone to share in the live astrophotography.
