Kielder Observatory Open Night
April 1, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm EDT
An event every week that begins at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, repeating indefinitely
Kielder Observatory is one of the best stargazing experiences to be had. It's location within the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park and it's friendly and experienced Astronomers make it a must-visit attraction. Even the journey through Kielder Forest and up the forest track is an amazing experience in itself!
With various themed public events running 7 days a week there is plenty of opportunity to visit however bookings must be made well in advance due to the observatory's popularity, at least several weeks for mid-week events sometimes several months for weekends. Note that event start times vary depending on the time of year.
For the best experience and to see the dark skies ensure you plan your visit around new moon. During summer book the late evening events to avoid the Sun's twilight (and midges!).
Make the most of your trip to this remote location perhaps by staying over at Kielder Campsite, enjoy walks around Europe's largest man-made reservoir and check out the village Pub and Castle cafe both of which serve great food.
