Meet an Astronomer: Dr. Larry Wasserman
May 30, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Meet Lowell astronomer Dr. Larry Wasserman and hear his talk titled "Why Do I Observe Occultations? And What is an Occultation Anyway?" from 7 – 8 p.m. An informal Q and A will follow from 8 – 9 p.m.
Talk Description: Occasionally an object in our Solar System will pass between the Earth and a star causing an "occultation". Surprisingly, we can learn quite a bit about the occulting Solar System object by observing these events. Dr. Wasserman will discuss what is involved in actually observing such an event and the scientific information that can be derived from these observations.
Cost: Included with admission
