Upcoming Astronomy Events
As a service to our community, Sky & Telescope lists astronomy-related events, including star parties, observatory public nights, astronomy talks, and more. Star parties offer dark skies and astronomical fellowship and often cater to families and feature special activities for kids. Public nights give the general public a chance to view the sky through large telescopes, and public talks are a great place to learn the fundamentals of the science and the craft.
You’ll also see online events offered here.

Nightfall Star Party
November 9 - November 12

For over 20 years amateur astronomers have been gathering under the dark skies of the Borrego Springs California desert at Nightfall, a star party at the Palm Canyon Hotel and RV resort. The resort features two pools, a restaurant and bar, and all the comfort of a hotel and rv resort.
The organizers provide for workshops, a swap meet, a reception, a star-be-cue, an ice cream social, and, of course, a scorpion hunt. On Saturday this year, master astroimager Ron Brechar will be presenting a workshop so imagers can get the most of their photos. And, of course, there will be lots of observing and imaging from the RV and other observing sites.
