Planetfest 2012: Curiosity Knows No Bounds
Make plans to party with The Planetary Society and space enthusiasts around the world this summer as we celebrate the landing of Curiosity, the Mars Science Laboratory, on the Red Planet! In addition to our flagship event in Pasadena, CA we're planning a worldwide network of events!!
The flagship event: The Planetary Society, with sponsorship from JPL will be hosting a two-day party at the Pasadena Convention Center August 4th and 5th. Our own Bill Nye the Science Guy (CEO of the Planetary Society) will be kicking off the event and will be there both days. We'll also have Charles Elachi, Director of NASA JPL, Jim Green, NASA Planetary Science Division Director, Robert Picardo, actor, and a packed schedule of mission experts, scientists, and others. This is a family-friendly event, so we'll also have art projects and experiments for kids, plus a space-themed art show for all to enjoy. To cap it all off, we'll have a live feed of the insertion and landing itself!!! Get your tickets now, space is limited!! For more information or to get tickets, visit planetfest.org or call (626) 793-5100.
The satellite events: The Planetary Society is working with Yuri's Night, Astronomers Without Borders, Night Sky Network, and others to make this historic event a global party that anyone can attend no matter where they are! To find events outside of Pasadena or register an event, check out the Planetfest Worldwide link on the planetfest.org page.
Could Mars' environment have once supported life? Could humans one day live on Mars? Maybe our Curiosity can supply these answers!
