RTMC Astronomy Expo

The 40th annual RTMC Astronomy Expo will take place on Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26, 2008 (Memorial Day weekend). It will be held at YMCA Camp Oakes, five miles southeast of Big Bear City, California on State Route 38 at Lake Williams Road between mileposts 44 and 45. This location is about 50 miles northeast of Riverside in the San Bernardino mountains. This annual event features observing through a variety of telescopes, talks by amateur and professional astronomers, and a host of commercial vendors. In addition, the Beginner’s Corner will demonstrate telescope building and basic astronomical principles. Camp Oaks also features swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, archery and climbing. This year's keynote speaker is Chris Butler, whose presentation is titled, "From Nine Planets to Nine Billion Worlds: Visualizing the New Frontiers of Astronomy."
