Westport Astronomical Society - Astronomy Day
April 21, 2007 @ 12:00 am EDT
The Westport Astronomical Society will be celebrating Astronomy Day this Saturday, April 21st on the corner of Parker Harding Plaza and Post Road East in Westport from 1pm to 4pm. We will have solar observing telescopes set up for the public to safely view the sun as well as some other toys. We invite everyone to come back to the observatory later that evening for an open house and free viewings through our telescopes.
WAS maintains and operates the Rolnick Observatory which is a 40-foot tower at 182 Bayberry Lane in Westport. The tower houses a 12.5-inch, f/4.8 Newtonian reflector. In addition, WAS owns a 25-inch Newtonian reflector with a Dobsonian mount which we will have available for the public to use Saturday evening.
