NUMBER OF MEMBERS
Astronomy Club of Kosova or Klubi i Astronomëve Amatorë të Kosovës (In Albanian), is the first science and astronomy club in Kosovo. Founded on March 20, 2014 by a group of passionate young people that love astronomy and want to share the Wonders of the Universe with the others.
The Astronomy Club of Kosova aims to build, promote, popularize and bring the knowledge of science and astronomy in the Republic of Kosovo and the region. The group originally came together as the only lovers of astronomy, with simple tools that each member in the group had in their homes, slowly growing into a more serious group with scheduled stargazing meetings, astronomy discussions, and ways the group could affect the community where we live. Our astronomy club has been focused on receiving telescopes, demonstrating them, raising interest in astronomy, distributing free educational materials and observing the wonders of the universe among the young people of Kosovo coming from different ethnic backgrounds. Our scientific goal has been achieved by raising interest in the field of astronomy, receiving international support and donations, donated by different international astronomers, institutions or organizations.
Since 2014 we have been following and organizing rare astronomical activities such as: outreach events, info sessions, astro-camp, star parties, astronomy seminars & trainings, practical use of telescopes in schools and now we possess the OBSERVATORY OF PRISHTINA located at the Palace of Culture, Youth and Sports which has been functional in the 80s and reopened again for the public after so many years in closure.
“The Journey of a thousand light years, begins with a single step”.
