NUMBER OF MEMBERS
The Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association – in existence for over 60 years – is an organization of astronomy enthusiasts of varied ages, backgrounds, and interests. We are an eclectic mix of individuals and families who share a common interest in and appreciation for the wonders of the universe.
Meetings featuring informative speakers, exchange of ideas among members, etc. are held from 7 to 9 pm on the third Thursday evenings from January through May and September through November. In addition, special events are held throughout the calendar year which can involve noted speakers, public outreach activities, and group observation of unusual celestial events. Members and guests alike can enjoy the experience of leaning from experienced amateur astronomers and forming new friendships.
Members can attain full access to the Association’s James C. Veen Observatory for personal observations and astro-imaging, participation in periodic Public Nights, and other pursuits. The GRAAA is an organization that offers something for just about anyone who wants to pursue astronomy as a hobby, regardless of age or level of knowledge.
