NUMBER OF MEMBERS
Our astronomical society was born in 1956 thanks to Salvatore Furia (asteroid # 194982), and the Observatory on the top of mount Campo dei Fiori (1230m a.s.l., 5 km from the city of Varese) opened in 1964.
Our main purpose is the popularization of Astronomy, and every year thousands of people visit our facility.
Thanks to our main telescope (84cm, one of the biggest amateur telescopes in Italy) we actively contribute to the astrometry of NEOs and comets to the Minor Planet Center (MPC code 204).
