Operating under sponsorship of the Natural Sciences Dept. at Pensacola State College since 1977, the EAA meets monthly on campus. We have a very active FaceBook group, with 5,000+ participants posting observations and photos from all over the world. We host deep sky gazes monthly throughout the year at Big Lagoon State Park, in cooperation with the Florida State Parks. We hold summer beach gazes at the Pensacola Beach Pavilion in cooperation with the Santa Rosa Island Authority. We also host school gazes, scout Merit Badge workshops, and informal gazes at our StarLight Drive In Theatre, near the Airport as weather permits; there are announced on FaceBook (group: Escambia Amateaur Astronomers) hours in advance. We sponsor gazes in support of public planetarium programming in our Space and Science Theatre, both before and after the monthly public planetarium evening shows.
