Welcome to the Oil Region Astronomical Society! It is the mission of the Oil Region Astronomical Society to educate and inspire learners of all ages about the wonders of the universe.

Here at ORAS, we believe the stars belong to everyone. We also understand that some individuals and families in the region may lack the financial resources to engage fully in our activities. ORAS is committed to ensuring that all those who are interested in astronomy and enjoying the wonders of the night sky can participate. If you are interested in joining ORAS or any of our activities, but feel your budget prevents you from doing so, please reach out to us via email. We will work with you to try and ensure cost is not a barrier.

We invite you to join us in admiring the majesty of the night sky of northwest Pennsylvania. ORAS is a group of amateur astronomers who are passionate about the stars, the planets, and space in general.  ORAS welcomes all individuals who gaze at the night sky in wonder and amazement.
