Description:

I am pleased to share this photograph I captured of the Third Interstellar Object ever detected by humankind — the remarkable Comet 3I/ATLAS. A wave of controversy has surrounded it: Could it be an extraterrestrial craft? Is it truly a comet? A fragment from another stellar system crossing our Solar System? The fascination with 3I/ATLAS comes from its unusual trajectory, its fragmentation events, its unpredictable brightening, and its astonishing speed of 210,000 km/h. It also shows a higher-than-expected nickel composition, unlike the more common iron-dominated profiles, and it follows a clearly hyperbolic orbit. Amid speculation, misinformation, and viral theories, I decided to go out and capture it myself. On November 23, at El Pathecito, Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico, at 5:30 a.m.
