Description:

This nightscape was captured from the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand. Over the course of the night, the valley repeatedly filled with mist, clearing within minutes. While these cycles were too brief to register on the 35 mm panorama of the land, their movement is visible drifting across the Milky Way. Aside from occasional calls from ruru (morepork owls), the night was remarkably still. This is my first wide panorama of the Winter Milky Way.
