Description:
This star cluster is a small, loose collection of old stars, and much less dense than other globular clusters. It is almost swallowed up against a backdrop of the densely populated Milky Way. If you use your imagination a bit, you can see the faint shape of an Angelfish or Arrow. M71 is 13,000 light years away, 9 to 10 billion years old, and located in the constellation Sagitta.
