Circled in this Hydrogen alpha image of the sun, taken from our deck, is the rapidly enlarging AR2936 area of sunspot activity, reported to have quadrupled in size in just 48 hours (https://earthsky.org/sun/big-sunspot-region-ar2936-jan-2022/). Arrows point to solar flare activity.
