Equipment:

The equipment used to capture this image was a Cannon 60Da with a Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide Angle lens on a very old tripod. My tripod was on a N. Atlantic seawall for this, 20sec, ISO3200 exposure intended to capture the vertically blooming lights and reflecting pools, producing a fully involved stellar-terrestrial image.

Description:

While on a tour in Iceland on September 30th 0606Proc2.tif, our guide took us to Vogar, where we parked at a lovely church. Vogar connects the Reykjanes peninsula with the capital area of Reykjavík and lies about halfway between the airport at Keflavik and Reykjavik. The municipality covers 200 km2 of land, 30 km of the coastline from Hafnarfjörður to Reykjanesbær to the mountain ridge of Grænadyngja. My tripod was on a N. Atlantic seawall for this, 20sec, ISO3200 exposure intended to capture the vertically blooming lights and reflecting pools, producing a fully involved stellar-terrestrial image. The view is slightly west of north based on the Big Dipper at top of frame.
