Description:
Around 7 p.m. when I was first viewing it, it was obvious in the west, north, east, and at the zenith. By 10 p.m. when I finally was set up to take photos it was more in the north and east, not extending to the zenith. Still visible to the naked eye but not as bright as earlier. Stunning reds and occasional greenish patches. The photo below is a wide angle shot taken with a 12 mm lens on a Micro 4/3 format camera (so a 24 mm lens in full-frame terms). Cassiopeia is in the center with Perseus in the bottom right. The Milky Way extends from upper left to lower right. ISO 1250, 12mm lens at f/2, 5 seconds.
