New Comet C/2017 O1 was discovered on July 19 by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernova and has not been given a name yet. It is about magnitude 14 and will brighten to about magnitude 8 by October before fading to Magnitude 20 in 2019. This image was taken through a 10 minute hole in the clouds after waiting 2 mornings for the clouds to open and the wind to stop shaking the telescope. The image is a negative of the original which shows the comet and galaxies the best at a low altitude in a hazy sky. The inset is an average of two 180s images.
