Description:
The name of this cluster is a tribute to one of the greatest female astronomers who ever existed, Caroline Herschel, but who always worked in the shadow of the male scientists of her family (first and foremost her brother William). Almost alone, in fact, she compiled a catalog containing thousands of non-stellar subjects and discovered 6 comets. She was probably the first woman to discover a comet.
