Comet 123P/West-Hartley will reach perihelion in it's 7.58 year orbit on 5 February 2019 when it will be 198 million miles from the Sun. 123P will makes it's close appraoch to Earth on 27 February 2019 when it will be 111 million miles from Earth and should reach magnitude 14. This GIF is a collection of 3 images each 5 minutes long. 123P was magnitude 17.8 and 267 million miles from Earth in this GIF. Thin wispy clouds were moving through the sky at the time the images were collected.
