Description:

Comet 13P/Olbers continues to slowly fade as it moves away from the Sun and Earth. On this evening the comet was magnitude 8.6 as seen from my light polluted skies. The comet magnitude calculation is done by a program called Astrometrica which identifies hundreds of stars in the image field of view and using these star's known magnitudes calculates the comet's magnitude in the selected red circle aperture diameter of 6 arc minutes which encompasses the comet's coma and nucleus observed in the image.
