Description:
Comet 144P/Kushida on February 3, 2024, is a short-period object (7.5 years) that has finally become slightly brighter than expected, reaching magnitude 9.4 in this image captured a few days after its perihelion. The comet is located above the Hyades open cluster, displaying a coma with an angular size of 12 arcminutes, and has a hint of ion tail extending towards the east (left).
