Description:

Comet 58P/Jackson-Neujmin was at perihelion in its 8.24 year orbit this past May 27, 2020 when it brightened to magnitude 10. In this gif 58P is magnitude 18.9 and 152 million miles from Earth. The gif is a collection of 9 images each 600 seconds long collected from 0652-0822UT with an 11" SCT f/6.4 and a STF-8300M CCD Camera. The comet is in the middle of the gif but about one inch from the top and 2 inches from the left side is Asteroid 2004 BT103 which is magnitude 19.9 per the MPC, can you see it? The gif field of view is 15'x15' (0.25x0.25 degrees) with 1.24"/pixel in the full size gif.
