Description:
Comet 88P/Howell imaged on September 9, 2020, just as it passed at an angular distance of only 8 arcminutes from the center of the globular cluster NGC 5897 which 24,000 light-years away formed before the spiral arms of our galaxy. The comet has a weak ionic tail that extends at least 15 minutes in length to the east out of the image field.
