Description:

Comet C/2014 B1 (Schwartz) is the comet that just won't fade away. It was discovered back in January 2014 and brightened to magitude 15 when it reached perihelion in its 700,000 year orbit in September 2017. The comet won't fade below magnitude 20 until 2023. In these images the comet was magnitude 18.1 and one billion miles from Earth. The comet still shows a coma/tail complex that spans over one degree long and 1/2 degree wide. The magnitude 15 peculiar galaxy PGC 48046 is also in the background of the images.
