Description:

Comet C/2017 S3 (PANSTARRS) will circle the Sun on August 17, 2018, and is predicted to brighten, possibly to naked eye visibility, as it gets closer, perhaps developing a visible tail as the solar winds increase. It will make its closest approach to the Earth on August 7, 2018, at a distance of 7 million miles. C/2017 S3 was discovered by the PanSTARRS survey team at Haleakala Telescope 1 on September 23, 2017. The Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System, located at Haleakala Observatory, Hawaii, USA, consists of astronomical cameras, telescopes and a computing facility that is surveying the sky for moving or variable objects on a continual basis. This image was shot by me, remotely, early this morning, via the iTelescope.net 90 mm Takahashi wide field color imaging system at Siding Springs Observatory in NSW Australia, and processed on Nebulosity and Aurora HDR software.
