This gif of Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) covers 3.5 hours of the comet's life from the time it rises over the Catalina Mountains until morning twilight. The 60% Moon, clouds and low altitude haze when the comet first appeared over the mountains all tried to mask this comet's appearance thus you will see the comet slowly brighten as it rises in altitude and then some fluctuation as the Moon and clouds interact with the gif images. The single 60 second image is used to determine the comet's magnitude which is 7.9 as the comet was 63 million miles from Earth.
