Description:

Comet C/2021 G2 (ATLAS) has slowly brightened to magnitude 13.5, has a 1.2 arc minute coma and a fan tail 2.1 arc minutes long at a position angle of 242 degrees from the comet coma. The fan shaped tail is a little hard to see in this color image, but it ends at about the bright star to the lower right of the comet coma and is about 2 arc minutes wide at that position. The comet is now about as bright as Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) and currently is the third brightest comet observable in the northern hemisphere.
