Description:
Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos) has been slowly getting closer to the horizon over the past week after sunset. On the evening of December 10 UT managed to stack 4 good images when the comet was 3 degrees above a very clear bright evening twilight sky. Needless to say, with the comet only around magnitude 10 and using a small refractor the images do not show much for features of the comet. The software calculated a magnitude of 9.6 although with the comet so low to the horizon in such bright twilight I hesitate to suggest the comet is that bright since one week ago under darker evening twilight skies the comet was magnitude 10.7, magnitude predictions for the comet suggest the comet should not be brightening that quickly, further observations are required to verify this increase in brightness.
