Description:
Here is a shot of Comet C/2024 E1 Wierzchos + the Draco Dwarf Galaxy making a very unusual pairing as the comet passes by. The dwarf galaxy is 260,000 light years distant and contains one of the largest amount of dark matter yet measured for this type of object. Comet Wierzchos seen on the upper right is currently around 16th magnitude and will be a fine 5th magnitude target in January low in the southern sky. The inset shows an enlargement of the comet with its short stubby tail. Technical Data: 10" f/3.9 Newtonian astrograph, Atik 16200 CCD, LRGB = 2 hours total, Payson, Az.
