Description:

Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) is moving about 3 degrees per day across Earth's skies as it approaches perihelion in its orbit in October when it may brighten to magnitude 7. In this stacked image the comet was magnitude 13.1 with a coma 0.8 arc minutes wide and a tail 1 arc minute long at a position angle of 142 degrees from the comet's coma. Due to the comet moving so fast only a stack of images totaling 60 seconds could be taken with this equipment before movement of the comet would be noticed as a streak.
