Description:

Last night we were treated to a special event - Comet Swan passing between M16 (The Eagle Nebula) and M17 (The Swan Nebula). The comet is riding high in serpens at this time and allowed over an hour of exposure time to record this amazing event. The entire field is filled with glowing red hydrogen, and the combination of brilliant milky way stars and lots of dark dusty nebula in the same shot was incredible. The comet, which is just barely naked eye recorded as a gorgeous teal colored coma, and a faint yellow dusty tail.
