Description:

My previous image showed the evening of May 10 at 08:07pm MST when Comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS) and the Orion Nebula were in a fairly bright twilight sky just above the orange twilight glow, several degrees above the horizon. This image shows the comet and nebula at 08:18pm, 11 minutes later when they are in the orange twilight glow just above the horizon. The comet is at an altitude of 1.1 degrees and the nebula at 2.6 degrees. The comet was 2.4 degrees from the background nebula. The comet was magnitude 6.1 and the nebula magnitude 4.0, one can see that the nebula brightness shows very well in the now darker skies, but the comet which is buried deep in the atmospheric haze just above the horizon does not benefit from the darker skies. The comet is much higher in the Southern Hemisphere.
