Description:
The new comet in the neighborhood is C/2016 R2 (PANSTARRS), imaged remotely last night using the 106 mm color imaging refractor at iTelescope.net's Mayhill NM site. It made it's closest approach to earth, 300,000 km away, about 2 weeks ago and is now headed for a trip around the sun, and then it's off into the distance, not to return for 20,000 years. It's currently in the constellation Taurus, but, at magnitude 13, you will need a telescope to see it.
