According to current ephemeris Comet C/2017 T1 Heinze will pass only 20 million miles from Earth in the early morning hours of 4 January 2018. It will be about magnitude 9 and will be moving at about 1/3 degree per hour across Earth's night sky. In these images the comet is about magnitude 17 and is 210 million miles from Earth. The comet has a short fan shaped tail above the coma. The upper right insets are a single 300 second image of the comet.
