Description:

I was able to capture these faint synchronic bands from Comet McNaught earlier this evening. I read reports coming in from other areas and thought I'd give it a try. The brighter bands were easily visible to the naked eye. It looked like a very faint colorless aurora. When you think about what we're seeing up here in the northern hemisphere, it is down right incredible! The comet's tail is so long that it is visible in both hemispheres at once! I'd say this is a once in a lifetime event.
