Description:

Comet SWAN25B was only 1.5 degrees above a hazy twilight horizon when these images were collected. The bright evening sky showed all the optical artifact imperfections in the images which may have affected the comet magnitude calculation. The comet had a coma about 3.5' wide, a visible tail 15' long and was about magnitude 7.3. The comet will slowly rise out of the evening twilight in the Northern Hemisphere over the next several weeks.
