Description:

The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. It is located about 5,000 light-years away from Earth and is formed by the stellar wind from Wolf-Rayet star WR 136 colliding with and energizing the slower moving wind when the star became a red giant at least 250,000 years ago. This composition additionally shows the dust of our Milky Way in the busy Cygnus region.
