Description:
Three friends and I from the Maui Camera Club got up very early and drove up to the overlook at 9300-ft elevation when the Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS first began to appear in the sky from Hawaii. We shot toward the east as the sun rose, with a layer of clouds over the crater of Haleakala. The crescent moon had already risen to the north of the comet. I used a 4-second exposure at 32 mm at f/2.8 and 2000 ISO.
