Description:

Moments before C2, the only remaining parts of the photosphere visible are segments shining through valleys between mountains on the eastern limb of the moon, known as Baily's beads. These were described by Francis Baily, who actually observed them during an annular rather than a total solar eclipse. More of the red photosphere is visible along the eastern limb of the sun.
