Description:

This picture was taken just minutes before a compact layer of low clouds covered our satellite, and so it was impossibile to follow the egress of the Moon from Earth's shadow. The Eclipse was truly dark, probably a 2 on the Danjon Scale, and there are some theories regarding why this happened: the first one says that since the Moon was near the Perigee of its orbit, it plunged deeper into the shadow of our planet; the second one states that the upper atmosphere is still a bit clouded by the ashes of the Calbuco volcano eruption, that happened around five months ago. However it is, it was truly a wonder of nature!
