Description:

Centered in this wide field image is the Local Group galaxy NGC6822, Barnards Galaxy in Sagittarius. This local group member is well resolved here including many tiny pink HII regions, and blue star clouds. Now I had heard that there was a few faint wisps of IFN (Galactic Cirrus) in this field, and the few shots I found of this showed a few barely recorded glows in this area. 2h with the RASA11 up at our ultra dark and transparent site up in Happpy Jack revealed an unexpected result. I was litterally shocked by how much IFN showed up. The cirrus was in fact so bright and detailed that it was actually hiding outer details in the galaxy, and blew away all the faint background galaxies. Such an incredible field! Technical Data: 11" f/2.2 RASA astrograph, ASI6200mm + Baader LRGB filt
