Description:

This image of M51, The Whirlpool Galaxy was taken with a Celestron 11 inch Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at Sierra Remote Observatories. The stars in this image have FWHM values near the diffraction limit for this telescope of around 0.45 arc-seconds. This image is the result of a collaboration between Robert Majewski and Peter Boreland.
