Description:
Finally found a clear and steady sky as we get near the end of the Julian, CA winter. (-: The 47 x 900s Luminance captures are between 1.8" and 2.7" FWHM. "NGC 3166 and NGC 3169 are two spiral galaxies, 70 million light-years distant, trapped in a death spiral. As these two galaxies begin to merge, they are starting to be pulled apart. The faint wisps surrounding NGC 3169 are its outer spiral arms being pulled off. Eventually these two galaxies will merge to form a single galaxy. The smaller NGC 3165 is also a member of this group."
