Description:
Comet 46P/Wirtanen shows in this wide field image taken on December 10th 2018 a huge coma with 1.5 degrees of angular size, three times the size of Moon seen from Earth. With a global integrated brightness at least in magnitude 4, as reference the brightest star to right is 94 Ceti with magnitude 5. The inner coma contrasts exhibing a whitish color, also the faint tail toward northeast (to down-left). The field appears scattered with tiny galaxies, some visible through comet atmosphere.
