The most photographed object in the nightsky, it is a small dark nebula in the constellation orion, to the lower left of this image is the flame nebula, and the small blue nebula lower left of the horse head is a reflection nebula ngc 2023. taken with a Orion 8" inch f3.9 newtonian astrograph, Canon 60D unmodified, Orion starshoot autoguider 60mm guide scope, celestron avx mount, ISO-1250, 4.6 hours 4 min subs.
